The British Standards Institute (BSI) has released a new performance standard for windows and doors.
BS 6375-1 is one of many important standards for those working to improve the performance of windows and doors. It provides guidance to the specifier and the manufacturer of windows and external doors on anappropriate level of weathertightness for the UK. The standard explains how the design wind load should be calculated for any given location and how that design wind load is used for the appropriate selection of watertightness, airpermeability and wind resistance classes.
Annexes A and C have been amended to provide wind load data in accordance with the Eurocode BS EN 1991-1-4 and its corresponding national annex. The previous annexes A and C gave data calculated in accordance with BS6399-2 which is superseded and withdrawn.
